CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down this week in Cabell County.

A weather service survey team concluded the twister touched down near Ona on Wednesday amid high winds and heavy rain.

The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/1k61wXP ) reports that the team found a half-mile-long, 400-foot-wide swath of snapped and uprooted timber in a forested tract.

A house about 3 miles north of Ona was also damaged by a falling tree brought down in the storm.

The NWS weather team concluded it was an EF1 tornado, producing wind speeds of 86 to 110 mph. No injuries were reported.
