Girls Take It to The Hoops in Area Matchups

Bellaire’s St. John used a balanced attack as five different players hit for double figures to hand visiting Paden City a 80-26 loss Jan. 20. The young Lady Cat’s hung tough for one quarter trailing 16-10 but St. John came back strong and held the Cat’s to 16 points the rest of the way while tallying 64 of their own.

Leading the way for Paden City was Hannah Loy with 10, while Madison Knight hit for seven including one three ball. Darien Ritchie knocked in six and Chelsea Baker added a bucket from beyond the arc. Paden City had four three’s on the night.

Paden City Girls Win Big Over Hundred

Paden City jumped out to a first quarter lead over visiting Hundred Jan. 20 in girls’ basketball action as Loy, Ritchie and Baker all had the hot hand. After going ahead 10-7 the Cat’s continued to increase their lead and used a 13-2 third period to come away with a 52-28 victory.

Paden City was firing on all cylinders with Loy hitting three long bombs and finishing as the game’s high scorer with 19 points. She also grabbed three rebounds and had six steals to lead the way. Aiding the way for the Lady Cat’s were Ritchie and Baker with 10 each. Hope Cooper hit a three ball and DeLaney Lantz added a bucket for two. Alli Suter hit for two and added a free throw.

Donahue Uses Big First Half To Beat Wildcats

Paden City could manage to put up 30 points, but Bishop Donahue pumped in 49 winning 82-30 Jan. 18 in McMechen.

Ritchie led the Lady Cats with season-high 13 points, while Loy followed with eight, including a pair of three-pointers. Suter tacked on four points, while Baker hit one from beyond the arc. Paige Leonard added a bucket to close out Paden City’s scoring.

Donahue was paced by Jewell and Josie Purpura with nine of the Bishops’ 13 three pointers.
