Heasley, Gogan Recognized as Players of the Week

By Staff | Jan 13, 2016
Aaron Heasley
Katelyn Gogan

This players of the week are from Paden City and Tyler Consolidated.

Aaron Heasley, a 5 foot, 10 inch junior guard for Coach Fred King’s Wildcats, had a great week of basketball. Heasley had 11 three-pointers in his last two games. He had 22 points in a loss to Bishop Donahue and 24 on Friday against Magnolia. Heasley plays a good all around game and is one of the better jump shooters in the area.

From Tyler Consolidated, we have chosen the girls’ basketball team’s senior point guard Katelyn Gogan. Gogan leads the offense for the Knights. She is a good ball-handler, passer and rebounder. She also is the team’s leader on defense. Last week against St. Mary’s, she scored 14 points despite playing on a severely sprained ankle. She also managed four steals, five rebounds and three asists in the loss to the state’s No. 3-ranked team.

Special honorable mention goes to Paden City’s Zach Yeater and Deven Price along with Tyler Consolidated’s freshman JoLee Walton, who hit for seven points in the win against Wirt and poured in 17 in a JV game win against St. Mary’s. She also had a bucket in the St. Mary’s varsity contest.

Honorable mentioned goes to Tyler Consolidated wrestlers Cory Chipps and Tyler Anderson plus the Silver Knights basketball player Griffin Phillips.
