Hoping Students Learn From Stories

October 14, 2015
Tyler Star News

Tyler Consolidated High School recently brought in two speakers to share their stories with the students about giving in to peer pressure and making bad decisions. The speakers recounted how decisions they made in their youth resulted in jail time and losing everything.

At this point, this is something that the youths of Tyler County need to hear. One of the biggest problems that law enforcement and the courts are facing is drugs. While drug use is certainly nothing new, in the last several years, the problem has grown out of control. Every day you hear about someone overdosing or being arrested for drug related offenses. Often, other crimes, like breaking and entering, stem from drug use.

We desperately hope that the students who were fortunate enough to here these speakers' stories will learn from their mistakes, and decide not to make them themselves.
