Tyler County Superintendent of Schools Robin Daquilante and the Tyler Board of Education honored retiring board members Ken Hunt and Larry Thomas for their service to Tyler County Schools on June 16.

Also, Barbara Lynch appeared before the board to express her concerns over a safety issue when unloading children and parents from school buses in the back parking lot. She stated there is a need for a sidewalk for loading and unloading of students, chaperones, school personnel, and equipment. She said they have to get out of the buses onto the grass and most of the time it is muddy. Kids try and get out of the mud and it causes a safety issue as they go between vehicles. She asked if there was anything that the board could do. The board thanked her for bringing it to their attention and assured her they would work on getting the issue corrected.

Superintendent Daquilante reported she would like to see the board reinstate the employee sports pass. She said since the pass had been removed it has not made any difference financially to the county. A lot of teachers have other passes (SSAC) and it has had absolutely no effect one way or the other. She also said it is employee deserved. It was moved by the board to reinstate the pass.
