Top students are recognized

The 36th annual Academic Awards Ceremony and Reception to honor students in Tyler County and Paden City Schools was held on April 15 and 17 at in the Tyler Consolidated High/Middle School Auditorium. The ceremony, which has traditionally been sponsored since its inception by First Federal Savings Bank, has graciously been continued by Peoples Bank.

Students were recognized for achieving the status of being in the top 15 percent of their class at both awards ceremonies.

Master of Ceremonies for the events was Michael Myer, Executive Editor of the Intelligencer and the Wheeling News - Register.

Eight seniors were inducted in to the Academic Hall of Fame at the 36th Annual Academic Awards Ceremony on April 17 at Tyler Consolidated High School. Pictured above, left to right, front row - Chelsea Kehrer, Sophia Kinnard, Carly Fletcher and Sydney Reed; back row - Terri Botkins (Sistersville Branch Manager, Peoples Bank), Kali Mead, Macy Frey, Caroline Bantug, Dylan Reynolds, Denise Terrell (VP Regional Manager, Peoples Bank) and Rick Stafford (Executive VP, Sales and Marketing, Peoples Bank).

Entertainment was provided by the Tyler Consolidated High School Jazz Band under the direction of Wayne Smith for the High School award ceremony and the Tyler Consolidated Choir, under the direction of Bryce Negie, performed at the Middle School ceremony.

Chuck Sulerzyski, President and CEO of Peoples Bank was the guest speaker for the Middle School ceremony while Rick Stafford, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Peoples Bank was the guest speaker for the high school awards.

Middle School students were presented certificates of achievement from Tyler County Superintendent of Schools, Robin Daquilante and Peoples Bank Sistersville Branch Manager, Terri Botkins; while the high school honorees received theirs from Amanda Kimble, Director of Safety at Tyler Consolidated High School, and Bodkins.

Students receiving certificates in grades 5-6 from Paden City Elementary School were: Presley Pierce, Rachel Price, Maggi Still, Hope Weber, Jacob Amos, Sean Christner, Anya Glover, Isavella Beverlin, Cameron Dennis, and Abbe Stackpole.

Recognized in grades 7-8 from Paden City were: Nathan Barker, Hannah Loy, Matthew Rexroad, Delainey Lantz, Matthew Michael, Alli Suter, Jenna Ferrebee, LEvi Goddard, Isaac Price, Joshua Glover, Aubrey Neff and Shely Shultheis.

Fifth graders recognized from A.I. Boreman Elementary School included: Imagen Anderson, Abigail Ebert, Michael Suter, Alan Benzing, Aaron Moore, Abigail Thompson, Jeremiah Boley, Regan Smith, Eden Turner, Jenna Brinkmeier and Hunter Stoller.

Fifth graders recognized from Sistersville Elementary School were: Hadyn Brown, Alexis Huffman, Madeline Ice, Jackson Kibbey, Isaac Melvin, Sadie Nichols, Morgan Palmer, Matthew Riddle, Isaac Rush, Blake Schwartz and Stephen Yost.

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders attending Tyler Consolidated Middle School recognized at the awards ceremony included: Creed Ammons, Melissa Chapman, Hailey Cook, Madison DeVaughn, Mercedes Flores, Anna Grimes, Rachel Hashman, Sarah Hashman, Dustin Hassenmayer, Alexis Helmick, Shawn JOnes, George Kester, Garrett Littell, Katie Miller, Kimberly Owens, Amie Robinson, Noah Swiger; James Tanner, Rachel Thomas, Judah Turner and Avery West.

Following the ceremony, senior students that have been awarded certificates of achievement each year received special recognition by being inducted into the Academic Hall of Fame. These students were not only in the 15 percent of their class but maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. since fifth grade.
