Wildcats win over Valley

It has been an up and down season for the Paden City Lady Wildcat softball team thus far in 2013 with young team members striving to gain experience while in varsity game situations.

The team is showing improvement, but growing pains as well as they continue their hunt for wins.

The Lady Wildcat’s took the win over the Lumber Jills of Valley on April 4 by a score of 14-3.

The Green and White put six runs on their side of the scoreboard in the first inning to take the decided lead in the game.

Senior Kelsey Loy was credited with the win in the circle, pitching three strike outs and four walks. Taylor Cosper came on in relief, sitting one batter down with a “K”.

Offensively, Myah Charkawi hit two doubles in the game to collect three RBI’s; Graeson Baker singled and doubled on the day bringing home four runs; Amber Neff hit two singles and and two RBI’s; Cosper doubled and had one RBI; Hannah Stanley singled and had one RBI; and Nikki Little singled and had one RBI.

On April 8 the Lady ‘Cats fell to Cameron at home, 9-1. Loy pitched three strike outs and a walk in the effort.

The Ladies in Green and White will see action again this week as they host the River Pilots on April 10; Beallsville on April 11 and Bridgeport in a double header on April 13.
