By Staff | Jan 23, 2013

Tyler County Commission met Jan. 22 and approved changes to employment as well as nominations for positions.

Kimberly Loudin will begin work in the County Clerk’s Office on Feb. 1 and Amy Adams is to fill a vacant position in the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Linda Henriksen’s nomination to the Civil Service Commission was approved.

New Extension Agent Natasha Richardson has been accepted and will begin work soon.

Luke Furbee presented a letter from the Prosecuting Attorney’s office stating that he intends to hire Julie Yonaley.

The commission addressed the design of a county seal for Tyler County’s upcoming bicentennial, determining that it should relate to the culture and history of Tyler County. A contest for a design will be limited to county residents. For further contest specifications and design perimeters, they appointed Patricia Weekley.

In-house budget revisions were made in the County Clerk’s Office as well as the Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

Given the high level of oil and gas activity at the courthouse, the County Clerk’s office is planning to acquire four more lookup stations. For this purpose they will be estimating total costs and researching potential funds. A special commission meeting will be held to determine further action on Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. following Board of Review and Equalization Hearings.

Tom Cooper of OEM reported success with the first half of Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) training which took place this weekend. The second half of the program will take place at the 4-H facility the first weekend of February. The class has been filled.

Due to a conflict of interest with the normal legal council, the commission is seeking outside council with Philip Bowser of Snyder and Hassig in reference to actions with the Ivan Moore Estate. No further comments could be made on the matter.

The ArtsLink organization is to receive a letter of recognition and support from the commission, which should help in attaining grants.

The commission also met with the Tyler County Fair Board in executive session. Upon return to the regular meeting, no actions regarding the executive session were taken.

Other approved items include the minutes of last meeting, the clerk’s fiduciary report and the paying of bills.
