Give of yourself
January has been recognized as National Blood Donor Month since 1970. January is not only a time to give thanks to blood donors, but also a time to encourage new donors and spread awareness about the importance of blood donation.
This Thursday, Tyler County area citizens will have the opportunity to participate in this important cause. The Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department and the Sistersville Lions Club are sponsoring a blood drive at the SVFD located at 121 Maple Lane from 12:30 until 6:30 p.m. and are in desperate need of donors.
It is important that members of our community take the time on Thursday to do their part in helping save a life. According to the American Red Cross, just one donation can help save the lives of up to three people. In addition, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood and more than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day.
