“Let Freedom Ring”

December 10, 2012
Tyler Star News

Because the date selected for the Sistersville Christmas Parade, Dec. 7, is also known as Pearl Harbor Day, organizers of the event have chosen the parade theme to be "Let Freedom Ring" and will honor two Tyler County World War II veterans to serve as parade marshals.

Colin Doig and Ed Amos each served their country during war time and returned home to Tyler County.

Doig, a WWII Navy veteran, served on the USS Pope and was part of the task force that captured the German Sub U505. He returned home to Sistersville and went to work for GATX where he traveled the world for 38 years. Doig has been a part of the Blue Blazer Honor Guard for Sistersville VFW Post 6327 since 1990 and currently serves as Post Surgeon.
