The Lady Knight varsity volleyball team at Tyler Consolidated is on fire of late as they secured their 19th win over the weekend. The team has only faced defeat once so far in 2012, and look to make a strong run at any competition they face for the rest of the year.
At Parkersburg Catholic on Sept. 27 the Silver took little time in handing the defeat to Ritchie County, taking the set in two games, 25-15 and 25-15.
Senior Torrye Cline led the Silver Knights with 14 points, three aces. She also had eight digs, 40 sets and 22 assists. Megan Carpenter added six points, one ace, three digs, three blocks and five kills. Shay Yonaley also put six points on the scoreboard and had 14 digs in the game; Sydeny Reed, two points, six digs and five kills; Allison Wable served up one point, had two digs and 11 kills; Hilary Casteel, five digs; Kerstyn Cline, six digs; Bridget Matthews, two blocks, two kills; Carly Fletcher, five digs; and Ariel fish, eight digs.
Against the home team, Parkersburg Catholic ,on the same date, the Lady Knights defeated the Crusaders in two games, 27-25 and 25-20.
Gaining points for the Consolidated team on the day were Kerstyn Cline with eight, one ace and four digs; Yonaley, five points, one ace, and eight digs; Torrye Cline, five points, one ace, three digs, 52 sets and 22 assists; Reed, four points, two kills; Wable, three points, one ace, one block, 11 kills; Carpenter, one point, one ace, two digs, one block and seven kills; and Matthews, one block and three kills.
At home on Sept. 29 the Lady Knights and Warren Local Lady Warriors basically put on a volleyball clinic for anyone interested in watching how to play an exciting game of volleyball. The two teams battled for every point, with the home team finally coming out on the top after three games in an hour and half, 25-15, 23-25 and 31-29.
Setter Torrye Cline served up 12 points for the Silver, with two aces, 10 digs, one block, 95 good sets and 40 assists. Yonaley contributed seven points and had 18 digs; Wable scored seven with 13 kills; Carpenter had five points, two digs, three bocks and 13 kills; Kerstyn Cline scored four and had nine digs; Reed, three points, four digs, four blocks and five kills; Csteel, 10 digs; and Fletcher, three digs.
The Lady Knights wrapped up the days' competition with a win over Paden City, 25-14 and 25-13.
Scoring in the game for the home team was led by Sydney Reed with 11. She also had one dig and three kills. Yonaley scored nine points, five aces and eight digs; Torrye Cline, four points, one ace, two digs; 38 sets and 20 assists; Wable scored two, had one block and 12 kills; Carpenter added one point, had two blocks and four kills; Haylea LeMasters had two blocks and one kill; Fletcher, two digs; Fish, two digs; and Matthews, two kills.
The Lady Knights were scheduled to play at Linsly on Oct. 2 and will host Beallsville on Oct. 4.
