Paden City Wildcats win over Jefferson

The Paden City Wildcats added a win to their season record making it four in the plus column for the Green with a win over Jefferson County Christian on April 28 at home. The ‘Cats worked the diamond well in the game, putting three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning, four in the second and then exploded with 11 in the fifth to take the 20-6 win.

The Wildcats scored their 20 runs on nine hits and committed an error, while Jefferson County scored six on eight hits and tallied seven errors.

Freshman Craig Allen got the win on the mound for the home team, walking two Jefferson batters and striking out four.

At the plate, Levi Meadows singled and collected three RBI’s; Matt Barker brought home one run; Zach Heasley singled and tripled for four RBI’s; Jay Billiter hit two singles to collect two RBI’s; Allen singled for an RBI; Trey Leonard doubled for one RBI; and Kyle Postlethwait hit two singles to drive home three runs.

Though the two teams were scheduled to play a double header, the second game was called off due to rain.

On April 30 the Wildcats dropped a game to St. John Central 5-0.

Sophomore Kyle Postlewait took the loss on the mound, walking two and striking out two, and Taylor Still walked one in his time on the mound. Jamie Billiter completed the battery in the game.

Paden City will host a trifecta on Friday when they host both Wood County Christian and East Richland. The action will begin at 3:30 p.m. when the Wildcats take on Wood County in the first game of the evening. The second game will feature Wood County Christian vs. East Richland; and the night cap will feature the hometown Paden City Wildcats against East Richland.

Paden City will begin Sectional play on May 7 when they are expected to travel to Valley for the first game of the Sectional.
