Tyler Star News

The City of Paden City will hold an election on June 7 to elect a Mayor and one member of council from each ward. Anyone desiring to run for an office must file by 4 p.m. on April 9 in the Recorder's Office of the city building.

Candidates that have filed thus far include:

For Mayor: Cindy Slider and John D. "Hoppy" Hopkins.

For Council: Glenn "Bob" Casteel, 1st Ward; and Tom Trader, 2nd Ward.

There will be a change in the polling places this year. Due to the unavailability of Paden City Elementary School, the city has been granted permission by the Secretary of State Election Board to combine the 2nd and 3rd wards into one polling place. This polling place will be in the Council Chambers of the City Building.

The drawing for ballot positions will be held on April 16, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Recorder's Office.

The last day to register to vote in this election is May 18. Voters must go to the court house in the county in which you reside to register.

The first day that Absentee Ballot Applications can be received by the Recorder will be March 16.

The first day of Early Voting in person will be May 18, and the last day of Early Voting in person will be June 4. Early Voting will be held at city hall.

Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
