Superintendent of Schools Robin Daquliante is pleased to announce, in consideration of the year's mild winter weather, students will be enjoying an early dismissal at the upcoming end of the school calendar.
"Please keep in mind the schedule is subject to change in the event we find it necessary to close school for any inclement weather during the remainder of the school year, said Daquilante.
"By state law, Tyler County, and several other counties, are required to schedule eight make-up days in case of closings," Daquilante continued.
"We have used only two out-of-school days this year. Therefore, Friday, March 2 will be counted as one make-up day, and Friday, March 16, will be counted as the second make-up day," said Daquilante. "We will be moving the four remaining OS (out of school) days to the end of the calendar year."
"This means, at the present time, the last day for students in the county to attend school is scheduled for Monday, May 21," explained Daquilante. "We will keep parents informed of any changes through school memos."
Out of school days were originally scheduled for March 2, 16, 23, 30, and May 4 and 21. These days have now been re-scheduled as in-school days.
"It was decided to schedule the remaining out of school days as in school days, so that students may enjoy the extra time off at the end of the year," said Daquilante.
At Monday evening's board of education meeting, Daquilante and members of the board approved athletic schedules for TCMS 2012 track as well as TCHS/TCMS 2012 volleyball.
