With three days left to file for the upcoming Primary Election, it appears the Tyler County ballot will feature the names of incumbent candidates, all of whom may run unopposed in 2012.
Those candidates include for County Commission, Charles "Pork" Smith, Republican; Prosecuting Attorney, D. Luke Furbee, Republican; Sheriff, Earl P. Kendle, Jr., Republican; Assessor, Jackson Hayes, Republican; and for Magistrate (elect two), John Roberts, Democrat and Michael Griffin, Republican.
Rules dictate that the Board of Education can have a maximum of two members from any one district. Incumbents Ralph Boone of Sistersville and Linda Hoover of Middlebourne, have declared their intent for re-election.
Although the filing period officially ends Jan. 28, the last day for candidates seeking county office to file in person is Jan. 27. The County Clerk's office is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Filings may also be mailed with a postmark of Jan. 28 or earlier. Completed "certificates of announcement," filing fees, and "candidate name pronunciation" forms can be mailed to Teresea Hamilton, County Clerk, P.O. Box 66, Middlebourne, WV 26149.
