Longbeards to offer scholarship

The Middle Island Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is offering an NWTF Conservation Scholarship to senior students of Pleasants, Ritchie and Tyler Counties.

The minimum requirements for students to qualify for the scholarship are as follows:

Must be a current XTREME JAKES member, (membership number required on application). Must have a Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Must have a valid hunting license.

Must submit completed NWTF application by January 1, 2012.

The scholarship is open to any field of study, but preference being given to the conservation field. Applicants can pick-up applications from guidance counselors at his/her county schools or go to the national website, nwtf.org and click on the links to download and print an application.

The Deadline to submit is January 1, 2012. Send completed applications to: NWTF Scholarships, c/o Bob Leasure, HC69 Box15, Alma, WV 26320.

The scholarship award on the local level is $500. The winner of the local award will automatically be submitted to the West Virginia state chapter.

The state award is $2000. The winner of the state award will automatically be sent to the national for consideration.

The NWTF national award is $10,000.
