Elks Lodge chooses October teenagers of the month

Sistersville Elks Lodge #333 has announced the selection of Tyler County Teenagers of the Month for October.

Joshua Slade Dillon, son of Gene Dillon, Jr. and Kay E. Underwood of Meadville Road, Friendly, is a senior at TCHS and carries a 3.6 GPA.

He participates in football and track, is a member of the chess and checkers club, and Schools for Schools, as well as helping with extra-curricular activities. He is a member of the United States Achievement Academy.

Carissa Beaver

Carissa Dale Beaver, daughter of Jennifer Jo. Light and the late David Allen Beaver, Sr., Sistersville, is also a TCHS senior and carries a 3.48 GPA.

Carissa, who says singing and playing soccer are her two favorite hobbies, has lettered in soccer and choir every year. She also attended Rhododendron Girls State over the summer.

She is President of THS, and secretary and active member of the National Art Honor Society. Carissa participated in community fundraisers for Relay for Life this past year.

Carissa says, "I love family gatherings and hanging with my friends." She is Captain of TCHS Soccer Team and has lettered in academics. She attended the "Top 15 Percent" Banquet.

Pre-Teenage Students of The Month are Remie McAdams and Julian Work.

Remie is the daughter of Randy McAdams and Dorothy Kasi and lives on Cow House Road, Sistersville.

She is an eighth grade student at TCMS, is an Honor Roll student, and carries a 3.25 GPA. Her activities include running track, fishing, hunting, and riding dirt bikes and ATVs.

She is a member of NJHS, 4-H, and Extreme Jakes. Community service activities include helping Mrs. Hagerty after school, tutoring, helping with the bow shoot at Harvest Festival, planting flowers at the Friendly Community Building, and camp clean-up at 4-H.

Julian Work, son of Jeff and Brandy Glover-Frye and Jim Work, is a Middlebourne resident and is in the eighth grade at TCMS. He carries a 4.0 GPA.

Julian is a TCMS Junior Honor Society member and has participated in many community activities, including Teen Court, Wesleyan Summer Gifted Camp, 4-H Grand Champion, and TCMS peer mediator. Julian participates in soccer, football, baseball and track.

Julian volunteers in the community and at church and school, is a member of student council, TCHS marching band, and is a certified Community Response Team Member. He also does volunteer work for neighbors and friends.

Julian says, "Church, family, school, community, scholarship, citizenship and being involved helping others is very important to me."

"I am very thankful for being chosen Pre-Teenager of the Month for Oct./Nov. by the Sistersville Elks," he added.
