Lady ‘Cats grabbing wins

The varsity volleyball team at Paden City High School is giving their fans something to cheer about these days as the team continues to add wins to their season record. With the meat of their season hitting them hard just now, the Lady ‘Cats have been and will be seeing more and more court time as they prepare for the post-season at the end of the month.

Last week at Bishop Donahue on Sept. 28, the Wildcats won in three, 25-20, 25-12, and 25-14.

Senior Lady ‘Cat, Dominique Craft, led the way in serving points in the contest with 22 and five aces. She had 13 kills, four blocks and 14 digs. Fellow senior Amanda Heasley scored 16 points, two aces; had 13 kills, four blocks and eight digs; Graeson Baker scored 12 points, one ace, had one kill, and seven digs; Haley Hizer added nine points, and had four digs; Logan Cosper scored eight, and had three digs; Lynnsie Parsons, eight points, one ace, three kills, six digs; Josie Fox, seven digs; and Kelsey Loy, two kills, and one block.

Cosper set the ball 76 times in the game and had 22 assists.

The team took two quick wins over Linsly on the same date, 25-6 and 25-9.

Logan Cosper led the Green with 12 points, two aces, and two digs. She also had 42 good sets and 17 assists in the game. Parsons added 11 points, one ace, had four kills and three digs; Hizer, 10 points, two aces, two digs; Baker, nine points, two aces, five digs; Craft, five points, 10 kills, four blocks and five digs; and Heasley, three points, 10 kills, four blocks and three digs.

Against the Lady Hornets of Hundred, Paden City took little time in setting them down with two quick wins, 25-11 and 25-9.

Eleven points, one ace were attributed to Heasley in the match-up, who also had six kills, four blocks and four digs. Baker scored nine, and had two digs; Craft, six points, 12 ills, four blocks and four digs; Tori Anderson scored five points, had two kills and one dig; Parsons scored five, had two kills, and three digs; Hizer, five points, one ace, four digs; mallory Estel scored three; Loy added two points, had two kills, one block and two digs; Megan Pierce, one point, two kills and one dig; Hannah Staley, one point, two kills; and Fox, three digs.

On Oct. 1 at Tyler Consolidated, the Lady Green and White were on their game with a win over Calhoun County to start the day, 25-13 and 25-21.

Craft, Baker and Heasley led all Wildcat scorers in the contest with 11 points apiece. Craft had 18 kills, and 18 digs to lead the way for the Green. Heasley had 14 kills and six digs; Parsons scored eight points, had two kills, and nine digs; Hizer added five points, and had six digs; Cosper, four points, 10 digs, 51 sets, and 27 assists; Fox had three digs; Loy had one kill, and one dig.

Against the Lady Knights of Tyler Consolidated, Paden City played to win in three games, 25-20, 14-25, and 25-20. In the high scoring affair, Craft scored 16 points for the ‘Cats. She had 12 kills and 14 digs also in the effort; Baker contributed 13 points and had 13 digs; Hizer scored 13, with 10 digs; Parsons, nine points, one kill, seven digs; Heasley, seven points, 13 kills, 10 digs; Cosper, six pints, one kill, six digs; Fox, one dig; and Loy, one kill.

Cosper had 101 good sets and was credited with 20 assists in the contest.

Against Williamstown at Tyler Consolidated, the Lady ‘Cats met their only defeat of the week at the hands of the Lady Jackets, 14-25 and 18-25.

Baker scored eight points, and had three digs in the game; Heasley scored eight, had two kills, one block and five digs; Parsons added six points, one ace, two kills, and two digs; Hizer scored four points, and had three digs; Cosper added three points, had eight digs, 49 good sets and nine assists; Craft, three points, seven kills, two blocks, two digs; Fox had two digs; and Loy had one dig.

At Beallsville on Monday

The Lady Wildcats are gearing up for post-season play at the end of the month which will be here before either players or fans realize it. The team has amassed a season record of 21 wins and four losses on the year thus far with not a single loss occurring on their own home court.

At Beallsville on Monday the Ladies in Green took three more wins with success over Beallsville in three, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-18.

Heasley lit up the court with 23 points, 13 kills, two blocks and six digs. Hizer totaled 19 points in the contest and had three digs; Craft added 12 points, had 11 kills, and seven digs; Baker, eight points, eight digs; Parsons, eight points, one kill, five digs; Cosper, three points, five digs, 82 sets and 22 assists; Fox, three digs; and Loy had three kills, and two digs.
