Cross country teams compete at Grand Vue

The Tyler Consolidated Cross Country Knight high school and middle school teams made the trip to Grand Vue Park in Moundsville on Saturday to participate in the John Marshall Invitational.

First up were the middle school girls, with 90 competitors and seven teams. The young Lady Knights performed very well placing two runners in the top 15 and finishing fifth overall in the team competition. Alexis Chambers, placing 10th overall in 13:30 and Amber Watson, 15th in 13:52, both went home with medals around their necks. Finishing not far from the lead pack were Amanda Reynolds (21st/14:19), Belle Camerlin (25th/14:31), Becky Bolin (35th/15:09) and Megan Sole (45th/15:38).

Joralda Rice (63rd/16:33) had a good placing in the pack and finishing up for the Silver Knights were Vanessa Templeton (83rd/18:35), Cosette Bantug (84th/18:44), Kellsi Anderson (88th/20:02) and Mira Eller (90th/20:14).

The next race of the day was run with 92 middle school boys and seven total teams. Evan Shreve, placing in 15th position overall with a finishing time of 12:36, collected his award at the ceremony. Also helping the team place sixth were Adam Cooper (31st/14:03), Creed Eller (37th/14:16), Josh Frum (42nd/14:30) and Eli Henthorn (52nd/15:00). Zach Judge placed 58th in 15:23, Kamron Milhoan (69th/16:13), Aaron Warner (73rd/16:35) and P.J. Wright (82nd/17:08).

One hundred and eleven high school girls started the next race with the Tyler Consolidated team finishing tenth out of the10 teams participating. Freshman Marisa Gogan was first across the finish line for the Knights with a time of 27:09 in 48th postion, with Jennifer Yost (61st/28:29) and Kelly Rice (71st/29.09) close behind.

The duo of Lauren Seckman (100th/34:32) and Rei Yasunaga (101st/34:41) came across and Stephanie Wright (108th/39:11) not far behind.

High school boys had a good field of competition with 125 runners in the final race of the day. First to finish for the Knights was Dylan Reynolds, placing sixth overall in 19:44, medaling for the best showing of the day. Ryan Dalrymple (57th/23:02) had a good race on the muddy course, as did Sean Camerlin (80th/24:38) and Devon Thompson(109th/27:27).

The next several weeks are going to be busy ones for the Tyler Consolidated harriers. The rescheduled home meet will take place on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and will be followed by the Ritchie County Invitational the following Saturday.

On Oct. 4 the middle school will compete at Doddridge for the LKC Championships and then both schools are off to Meadowbrook -- the high school team for the OVAC Championship and the WV/OH Championship on Oct. 8.
