It's been a long time coming, but it's here - Sistersville is growing!
This is great news for our town. The economic stagnation following the oil and chemical boom saw our community lose jobs, and with them, much of its vitality. But as much of the country is still rocked by recession, our town is beginning to show signs of rebound.
The Wells Inn has opened its doors again; there is a new Dollar Store; a town co-op; and many more businesses starting up all around us.
While this is encouraging news, we should continue to be diligent in pursuing new opportunities, while preparing how to handle all this welcomed growth. The principal way we will continue to see opportunity come back to Sistersville is through continued cooperation. Cooperation in our small community has been a blessing and we see it as being a very constructive and positive force among our citizenship.
Harold Dally, a member of the city council's planning commission, recently commented on this subject, "I have witnessed so much good come about when we all work together as friends and neighbors. Let's all keep working together for a better Sistersville."
Ideas are welcome from everyone. If you would like to contribute or make a suggestion to the community planning commission, contact Harold at 304-652-1350. Send written suggestions to: Harold Dally, Planning Commission President, 308 Chelsea St., Sistersville, WV 26175.
