Tyler Star News

Dear Editor,

I always tell my husband that I'm going to write a letter to the editor, but I have never found the time, until now. So, this will be short and sweet but include random topics.

My first comment has to do with Tyler Consolidated sports. My family and I went to the football game last Friday and I must admit that I was disappointed in the atmosphere.Football weather was indeed present, however the pride and support was not. The stands were empty. Winning season or not, I wish the community would show up to show their support to the players. As a past Tyler Consolidated athlete I know that it makes a difference. Go Knights.

About the Zumba. I'm so so excited and so aren't several of my friends. We really hope it passes because it's just what we've been looking for. But, something that would make it even better is if it was child friendly. Now, regardless I'm planning to attend, but it would be much easier for us moms to make it there if child entertainment was available. I have three, five and under and it is difficult sometimes for the grandparents to keep all of them at once, and most of my friends are in the same boat. Like I said, I still plan to go as much as possible, it is just a suggestion.

Now, for my last topic. I am so pleased with Tarina Morris and her "Little Knights" soccer

club. This is just what Tyler County needs. Not only does she do an amazing job with teaching the little ones with the basics, but it really gives them something to feel apart of. My oldest daughter Havannah really thought it was something that her soccer team was called Knights just like the high school. I think this is great for a couple of reasons. One, it gives the kids a way to burn their energy all while making new friends on the opposite ends of the county. And two, it is instilling that Tyler Knights pride that our county longs for. We are no longer the Red Raiders or the Tigers. I wish we could put that same pride and support into the Knights as we did in the past schools. So, thank you Tarina and keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Sam Lemasters
