Baird talks taxes

September 2, 2009

Dear Editor,

Here are some things to think about:

The one thing missing from the debates is the fact that the "Health Care" Bill makes it mandatory for you to have health insurance or pay a 2 1/4 percent tax penalty. This plan is not free! Remember, Medicare is mandatory even if you already have health insurance.

The illegal immigrant is not included and will still get free hospital care because they cannot refuse care. Criminals also get free care.

If you make over 325,000 your taxes will be increased, and if you have a small business it will be mandatory for you to provide health insurance or pay a tax penalty.

That this plan doesn't go into effect for five years? Why does it wait until after the next election? Maybe to escape the blame for a plan that is less than perfect because it was rushed through like the stimulus plan. Should we accept less than perfect plans?

Sincerely,

Barbara Baird
