Gil, Thomas exchange vows

Mr. and Mrs. John (AJ) Thomas

Jana Marie Gil and Andrew John (AJ) Thomas were married August 8, 2009, at 5:30 pm in an outdoor wedding ceremony at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV. The double ring wedding ceremony was performed by Pastor Rene` Wilt.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Denise Gil of New Martinsville, WV, and the granddaughter of Marie Litman of Sardis, Ohio. The groom is the son of Michael Thomas of New Martinsville, WV, and Rhonda Longwell of Sistersville, WV, and the grandson of Helen Thomas of New Martinsville, WV.

Special mention was made by both Jana and AJ in loving memory of family members no longer with us for the brides grandparents, Coleman Litman and Joe and Laura Gil and great grandparents, Harold and Juanita Bolen, and Fay Thomas, grandfather of the groom.

Jana wore an elegant white, strapless alencon lace gown with a background design of flowers covered in sequins and baby pearls, with a scalloped chapel train. The mid length mantilla veil was also made of alencon lace and covered with sequins and baby pearls.

Scripture Reading was provided by James Gil, uncle of the bride and Gathering Music for the wedding was provided by Mr. Bruce Ensinger.

The Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Nowry, Juli Spaley, Denise Thomas, all friends of the bride, and Melissa Gil, cousin of the bride. The Best Man and Groomsmen were Craig Thomas, brother of the groom, Michael Thomas, father of the groom, Roger Clegg, family member, and Brian Goddard, friend of the Groom.

Other members of the wedding party: Godparent of the bride: Joseph Gil and Patricia Lancos. Alisha Bungard and Courtney Slider, were the Attendants for the Wedding Programs and Guest Book. Abby Clegg and Cody Gil spread flower petals down the wedding isle and Drew and Carter Clegg carried the ring bearer pillows. The reception was also held at Oglebay and was enjoyed by all.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Marietta College with a major in Spanish and minors in Latin American Studies and Leadership. She also obtained a certificate to teach English as a foreign language. During the course of her studies at Marietta, Jana studied abroad in Toledo, Spain and traveled to London. Jana is also a 2007 graduate of Ohio University in Athens with a Masters Degree in Spanish. While at Athens, Jana taught in Merida, Mexico. Jana is presently employed as a Spanish Teacher by Tyler County Schools. The groom is a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science, Agribusiness Management and Rural Development Degree.

After a wedding trip to Italy, the couple will reside in New Martinsville upon their return.
