Katherine Curran Reemsnyder, a Sistersville native, celebrated her 100th birthday on July 5 with her family and friends in Buckhannon, W.Va. where she has lived since Sept. 4, 1937 when she married Dave Reemsnyder in Sistersville.

Among the 35 family members in attendance were her three children: Jane Reemsnyder Soverns of Linthicum, MD, David Reemsynder II of Blacksburg, VA and Kathie Reemsnyder Kamm of Severna Park, MD. Also celebrating with her were 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Each of the above presented her with a long stemmed rose color-coded to their generation.

In addition to the usual birthday festivities, granddaughter Mary Beth Soverns presented a musical slide show depicting Reemsnyder's first 100 years.

Family members and friends were included for laughs and giggles.

Reemsnyder received 156 birthday cards this time including 11 duplicates of Hallmark's current 100th birthday card.

They are all displayed around the windows and doors of her dining room.

Helping coordinate all the birthday activities was her good friend Edith Logsdon, originally of Moundsville. First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon honored Reemsnyder with alter flowers and a special reception following their church service.

Also attending the birthday luncheon on July 5 was West Virginia Wesleyan College President Pamela Balch and her husband Patrick, who arranged for family members to tour the current work in progress David E. Reemsnyder Research Center being built and named for Reemsnyder's husband, the late David E. Reemsnyder who was a long-time Wesleyan administrator, coach, and faculty member.

Reemsnyder, her husband, all three children and one grandchild (so far!) attended WVWC, which she enjoys watching from her dining room window, since she still lives across the street from the WVWC campus.
