Associated Press

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police say a West Virginia man trying to direct traffic around his tractor trailer after it became stuck in the snow was struck and killed by another driver.

State police in Adams County said the vehicle became disabled in snow shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday in Franklin Township.

Police spokesman Robert Hicks said 63-year-old Charles Briggs of Martinsburg, W.Va. got out of the truck to direct traffic when he was struck by a passing motorist.

Hicks said Briggs was taken to Chambersburg Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the driver of the other vehicle is cooperating with authorities.
