VIVIAN, W.Va. (AP) — Norfolk Southern has reopened a section of tracks in McDowell County that was damaged by a derailment.
Train traffic resumed through the Vivian area on Sunday.
Norfolk Southern spokesman Robin Chapman tells WOAY-TV (http://bit.ly/KgeRmc ) that workers replaced the track and reconditioned the road bed.
Seventeen freight cars and a tanker derailed on Friday. The tanker ruptured and leaked asphalt into Elkhorn Creek. Chapman says workers have contained the leak.
