2nd suspect arrested in W.Va. memorial theft

December 3, 2013

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A second suspect has been charged in the theft of several brass light fixtures from the West Virginia Veterans Memorial in Charleston.

Media outlets report that 37-year-old Bryan Allen Letart of Charleston was charged Tuesday with grand larceny, transferring and receiving stolen property and conspiracy. A criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court alleges that Letart helped Amanda Suzanne Young of Charleston remove 14 9-inch brass rings from light fixtures surrounding the memorial sometime before Nov. 18.

Police said the 32-year-old Young sold at least five fixtures to a recycling company last week.

Young is charged with transferring and receiving property, grand larceny and conspiracy.

Both defendants are being held in South Central Regional Jail.
