SHINNSTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Shinnston Police Department is rebuilding its force following several scandals involving former officers.
City Manager Debra Herndon says two officers are expected to graduate from the West Virginia State Police Academy in December. That will return the department to full staffing with seven certified officers.
The number of officers fell to three in January when a former police chief was fired. The department lost several other officers previously after they were charged with unrelated criminal offenses.
The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/1aQEmEh ) reports that Herndon gave an update on the police department's staffing to City Council on Monday during a work session.
