CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A wintry mix could put a crimp in the Thanksgiving travel plans of West Virginia residents.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon for Brooke and Hancock counties in the Northern Panhandle. The weather service says up to 9 inches of snow is possible there.

Other northern parts of the state could see snow mixed with freezing rain.

In mountainous counties, a light mix of freezing rain and sleet was forecast to end Tuesday morning.

A large section of the state including Charleston, Clarksburg and Huntington was expected to see rain mixed with some snow Tuesday.
