W.Va. church cancels annual Christmas dinner

November 15, 2013
Associated Press

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A Clarksburg church won't be serving free turkey dinners on Christmas Day due to a lack of volunteers.

The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/1aYm8SX) reports it will mark the first time 23 years that the First United Methodist Church won't be serving the annual dinner to the community.

Coordinators Bill Klenk and Bill Nichols say there simply weren't enough people willing to plan and organize the event.

Longtime volunteer Jim Wilson calls it a "tough, tough decision."
