W.Va. judge recuperating from fall injuries

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) — Brooke County Circuit Court Judge Martin Gaughan is recovering from injuries suffered in a fall.

Gaughan's office tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register ( ) that the judge broke his hip and underwent a partial hip replacement surgery last week.

West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Brent Benjamin issued an administrative order recalling former Judge Arthur Recht to preside over Gaughan's criminal docket. Recht's temporary duties are to begin Nov. 25.

Supreme Court administrator Steve Canterbury tells the newspaper that Ohio County Circuit Court Judge David Sims will expand his duties to include Brooke County's adult and juvenile drug courts while Gaughan recovers.
