CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The state Department of Environmental Protection has reassigned mining director Tom Clarke to a new position.
The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/1b7k21g) reports Clarke will become an executive assistant to DEP Secretary Randy Huffman on Dec. 1 dealing with environmental matters related to energy development.
Clarke had been director of the Division of Mining and Reclamation since August 2008.
The DEP says Harold Ward, a 24-year veteran of the department, will serve as acting mining director until a permanent replacement is named.
