BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — A former Raleigh County sheriff's deputy accused of child battery is facing new charges.

Media outlets report that a Raleigh County grand jury indicted Randy Burgess during a special session on charges of fraud with an access device, breaking and entering an automobile, embezzlement and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

The indictment charges that Burgess broke into a Raleigh County Sheriff's Department cruiser and stole gas credit cards. He's accused of using the credit cards for himself.

Raleigh County prosecutor Kristen Keller tells The Register-Herald ( ) that Burgess resigned in July. He had been suspended after he was charged in January with felony child battery.

An arraignment on the new charges is scheduled this week in Raleigh County Circuit Court.
