CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Democratic Party is postponing its annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner due to the federal government shutdown.

West Virginia Democratic chairman Larry Puccio said Saturday that the event is being rescheduled for Nov. 2 at the Charleston Civic Center.

Puccio noted that the state's congressional delegation continues to focus on a solution to restore critical government services.

Vice President Joe Biden is set to deliver the keynote address at the dinner that will celebrate U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller's 50 years of public service to West Virginia.

Rockefeller announced in January that he will not seek a sixth term in 2014.
