MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia University chemistry professor is getting a grant to find new ways to produce cleaner energy sources and lower emissions.

The Morgantown school says Fabien Goulay is receiving the $100,000 award from the American Chemical Society.

Goulay is working to reduce soot and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by lowering emissions from burning fossil fuels.

He says his research could improve the efficiency of energy production, help reduce carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles and lower energy costs.
