CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A former West Virginia church custodian will serve 15 to 35 years in prison for molesting a 7-year-old relative who he claims had tempted him by — in his words — "prancing around in short shorts."
Fifty-eight-year-old Charles Brainard Hogan of Cross Lanes said Wednesday he was ashamed of what he did.
But he also told Kanawha County Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib that he assaulted the girl because his wife hadn't slept with him in three years.
The Charleston Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/1brgXuW) says Zakaib cut off Hogan's rambling, Scripture-quoting speech.
Assistant Prosecutor Erica Lord called Hogan a monster.
Hogan must serve at least 15 years before he's eligible for parole and has already served more than one.
If he is eventually released, he'll register for life as a sex offender.
