CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A federal program is offering dozens of wild horses and burros for sale this week in West Virginia.
The Charleston Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/1gwUN8m) reports about 40 animals will be available Friday and Saturday at the Good Evening Ranch in the Nicholas County community of Canvas.
The animals are up to 5 years old and are available through the Bureau of Land Management's Wild Horse and Burro Program. All animals have had health screenings, including vaccinations.
Animals under 3 years old are available for a minimum of $125, and those 3 and up are available for $25. Prospective buyers must be at least 18 years old and have corrals, shelters and trailers.
More than 230,000 animals have been adopted nationwide since the federal program began in 1971.
