Silver Knights softball season ends

After a couple of rain delays hindered the Lady Knights from hosting a senior night game, only two games were slated on the week for the softball team.

Paden City’s softball season may have come to a close Friday in the sectional tournament, but they made sure they went down fighting and scratching.

While pitching is important to all good baseball teams, hitting sometimes can be just as valued when producing in high numbers. Unfortunately for the Silver Knights, those times have recently came after the opposition does it first.

Lady Knights beat ‘Jackets, head into sectionals Friday

While the weather has been wonderful this past week for outdoor sports, the Lady Knights are starting to wind down their number of days played during the week in preparation for sectionals.

Tyler Consolidated hosts championships

Tyler Consolidated hosted the Wetzel-Tyler Track League championships last Tuesday and finished third in both boys’ and girls’ standings.

Wildcats near face full slate of games

If teams within Paden City’s baseball section don’t have an eye open for the Wildcats, they may want to take note of what they have been doing lately. The ‘Cats are closing in on 20 wins, five victories away, and have yet to lose a game against any of their sectional foes.

Lady ‘Cats come from behind against Cougars

A 10-run fifth by Bishop Donahue was the key to a 15-2 victory over Paden City in April 14 softball action. Kim Davis struck out eight for the Lady Wildcats, while Vicki Yurisko singled and doubled to lead the ‘Cat offense. Alli Bertozzi and Amber Palmer each added an RBI single.

Tyler Consolidated, Paden City compete in WTTL

On Friday in Morgantown the Paden City High School seven-member girls track team scored 83 points to finish only 17.5 points behind Valley to become the Mason-Dixon Conference Track runners up.

The Tyler County Speedway will play host to the tri-state area’s fastest Super Late Models, as ‘the Bullring’ hosts the 14th ‘Topless 50’ on Saturday. The nations second oldest Topless Late Model event is a must see for the true Late Model fan, with the outcome seldom decided before the checkered flag falls.

The Lady Wildcats softball team faced a turbulent week as they dropped four contests before they put a mark up in the ‘W’ column against Bridgeport on Saturday.

One day after playing a solid game for their third win in a row, the Silver Knights baseball squad dropped a close contest to St. Marys.

After old man winter put a damper on the ‘bullring’ last week it’s time to catch a little “Saturday Night Fever” this Saturday Night, April 19 as Tyler County Speedway will be the place to be for a throwback evening of racing action.
