Camp Meeting - May 5-9

Conalco Brunch - May 8

Valley Grange 519 in Alma invites the public to “Meet the Candidates” on May 8 at 7 p.m. State, district and county level candidates have been invited. Light refreshments will be served.

Car Wash - May 10

There will be a car wash and hot dog sale at Bell’s Chevrolet in Sistersville on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Car wash, $5; hot dogs 50 cents each. Sponsored by Phase 10 Team Relay for Life. The proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Flea Market - May 10

On May 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the United Methodist Women will be holding a Flea Market in the Multi-Purpose Room of the church. A variety of items for sale along with food and drinks. Revival - May 11- 16

Evangelist Wayne Nelson will be the guest speaker at the revival at Middlebourne Baptist Church, 208 Fair Street, from May 11 through May 16. The services will begin at 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday Morning, 7 p.m. Sunday evening, and continue through the week at 7 p.m. Nursery services will be provided at each meeting. Mother's Day Dinner - May 11

Mother’s Day dinner to be held at the Alma Fire Hall on May 11from 11:30 - 2:00. Turkey, ham, chicken, various side dishes, and pies will be served. Adults $6, children 6 - 12 $4, and children 5 and under eat free. Take out available. Sponsored by the Alma Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary.

McTSA Night - May 12

The Tyler County TSA Chapter will hold a fundraiser night at the New Martinsville McDonald’s May 12 from 4:30 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. to raise money for their trip to Nationals in Orlando, Fla., this summer. McDonald’s will return a percentage of the profits made during those hours will benefit the Tyler County TSA Chapter.

Fish Fry - April 30

The Paden City Voluntary Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary will sponsor a fish fry on April 30 at the fire hall from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. For more information call the fire hall at 337-9289. The menu includes fish sandwiches, cole slaw, French fries, baked beans and desserts. The public is welcome.

Day of Prayer - May 1

The National Day of Prayer will be observed with a brief service at noon on May 1 on the front steps of the Tyler County Courthouse. Please join other citizens as they honor and pray for those who serve us in public offices, our military, our country, and our community.

Soup Bean Dinner - May 2

Country Connection CEOS Club announces a soup bean dinner May 2, eat in or carry out. The dinner will be held at the Middlebourne Senior Citizens Building from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The menu includes: soup beans, cornbread, dessert and coffee or tea for $5. It is open to the public.

Ecumenical Luncheon - May 2

Church women of New Martinsville will meet for the May Ecumenical Luncheon and Service on May 2 at the First Presbyterian Church, 59 E. Benjamin Drive, New Martinsville at noon. The program. “Come Holy Spirit” will start at 1 p.m. The offering will be given to the New Martinsville Ministerial Association.

Middle Island Jamboree - May 2

The Middle Island Jamboree will be held May 2 at 6 p.m. at the Tyler County Fairgrounds in the log building. Admission is free with door prizes awarded, a 50/50 drawing and food will be available. Sign up to perform at 5:30 p.m. All musicians are welcome. The event is sponsored by the Tyler County Fair Board. For more information, call Norma Long, coordinator, at 455-4509.

Saturday, May 3. Over 11 miles of sales - Sponsored by the Community Club. At least 16 different sales 8am-3pm. Seven miles south of Middlebourne. Turn at Exxon where maps are available. Yard sale items and refreshments, sold at the Community Center located 8 miles up Indian Creek Road, include hot dogs, homemade noodles, desserts, & drinks.

RFL ATV Benefit Ride - May 3

The Tyler County Relay for Life will hold a benefit ATV ride May 3 at Mike Martin’s Poor Boy Raceway, approximately seven miles up Elk Fork Road. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first vehicle out at 11 a.m. The ride is approximately 30 miles and entry fee is by donation. Breakfast and lunch will be available. Soup Beans for Dinner - May 3

Phase 10 Team Relay For Life is sponsoring a soup beans and corn bread dinner on May 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Sistersville Fire Department. The menu is soup beans and ham with corn bread, coleslaw, dessert, tea and coffee. Carry out available; $5 per meal. Door prizes and 50/50. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Association

Gracemen Concert - May 3

Opening Night for "Rumors"— April 25

Rumors,” a play by Neil Simon,will have its premiere performance at 8 p.m. April 25, by the Community Theater of Sistersville at the Old Masonic Building on Wells Street. Performances will also be on April 26 at 8 p.m. and April 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are for sale at the IGA and at Frankie’s Cafe, $8 for adults, $5 for children and seniors and $10 for balcony.

Gospel Sing — April 25

Beech Run FWB Church will be hosting Jim Blair and the Southern Gospelaires on April 25 at 7 p.m. Refreshments will follow.

Shotgun Raffle — April 25

Pancake and Sausage Breakfast — April 26

The Star Brites Relay for Life team of LaZears Chapel United Methodist Church is having a pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday April 26 at the Middle Island Health Clinic in Middlebourne. The menu will consist of pancakes, sausage, and a drink for $5. Children plates will be $2.50; 3 and under eat free. Take out will be available on the day of delivery to local area only.

Gun Raffle — April 26

The Star Brites Relay for Life team of LaZears Chapel United Methodist Church is holding a gun raffle for a Mossberg 500, 12 GA Pump, three-inch chamber, Vent Rib Ported Turkey Tube, 20-inch barrel-Real Tree Hardwods. Tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. Drawing will be held on April 26 at the pancake breakfast. American Legion Dinner — April 26

American Legion Family of Paden City Post 86 (the Post, Aux. and SAL) will have a fund raising dinner on April 26 at the Paden City Senior Citizens Building from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The menu will be vegetable soup, soup beans, cornbread, desserts, coffee and iced tea. Eat in or take out! Vegetable soup with cornbread will be $2.50 a bowl and soup beans and corn bread will be $1.50 a bowl. Desserts will be .50 a piece. Quarts of vegetable soup will be sold for $3.00 a quart and soup beans for $2.50 a quart.

Bird Walk — April 27

On April 27 at 7:30 a.m. at Rising Moon Nature Reserve in Tyler County. Outing will be led by Greg Park, naturalist at Schrader Environmental Center of Olegbay Institute in Wheeling. The hike is about 4 hours long, off trail through pastures and woods, and up and down hills. Participants need to be in good physical condition. For directions, call 758-2745 - Chris or Al.

Dip Dinner — April 27

The Tyler County Relay for Life will sponsor a dip dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at the log building at the Tyler County fairgrounds. The menu will include ham, turkey, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, homemade noodles, green beans, lima beans, corn, salads, rolls, desserts and drinks. The price will be $1 per dip or six for $5. Rolls and drinks will be provided at no charge.

Spring Gobbler Fest — April 27

Valley Grange #519 will have their fourth annual “Spring Gobbler Fest” on April 27. Menu includes: baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, hot rolls, dessert, coffer or iced tea. A donation of $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12. Children age 5 and under will eat free. Serving time will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Carry out will be available. The Grange Hall is located on Rt. 18 in Alma. All turkey hunters are welcome.

Lisa Fox will be reviewing “90 Minutes in Heaven” by Don Piper t the Sistersville Public Library on April 30 at noon.
