Sistersville woman stands silent

A Sistersville woman stood silent to allow Tyler County Circuit Court Judge Mark Karl to enter an innocent plea April 29.

Dora M. King, 24, of 230 Wood St., Apt. 314, was formally arranged, standing silent at the recommendation of her court appointed lawyer Keith W. Hart.

She is charged with the felony offenses of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver to have occurred Oct. 4, 2007, by unlawfully possessing cocaine and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

The defendant was ordered to return June 2 at 10 a.m for further proceedings. Bond was continued.

Sharing the docket was Wesley J. Bigler, 34, of Rd. 2, Box 255, New Martinsville, charged with the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver by unlawfully possessing marijuana to have occurred in February.

“I have spoken with Mr. Bigler and Mr. (F.M. Dean) Rohrig (prosecuting attorney) and there doesn’t appear to be anything worked out,” Hart said.

The defense had announced at Bigler’s April 8 hearing that a plea agreement would be reached by this appearance.

Bigler was ordered to return June 2 at 10 a.m. for continued disposition. Bond was continued.

Hart said he, his client, Clifford Arthur Iverson, 61, no address given; and the state have a written agreement “that needs to be tweaked” and asked for a continuance of proceedings.

Karl set a return date of June 2 at 10 a.m. and continued bond.

Iverson is charged with the felony offense of manufacturing a controlled substance by unlawfully growing and cultivating marijuana to have occurred July 18, 2007.

Also appearing was Kevin J. Wright, 43, of Shirley.

“At this point in time we expect this case to be resolved,” Luke Furbee, defense attorney, said. “We ask for a return date before the end of term for a possible plea.”

Rohrig told Karl the plea was a matter of one issue at this point.

The defendant is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver by possession of marijuana to have occurred Sept. 4, 2007.

He is further charged with the misdemeanor offense of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person by unlawfully possessing one H&R Model 676 .22 caliber pistol, one Beretta model 92F 9mm pistol, two Colt .22 caliber pistols, one Ruger mini 14 .223 caliber, one Winchester model 94 30-30 caliber, one J.C. Higgins model 101.1 410 gauge, one New England arms 12 gauge, one Marlin model 60SB .22 caliber, one Winchester model 12 12 gauge and two Keystone Sporting Arms .22 caliber model Cricket.

Wright had previously been convicted of the felony offense of entry of a dwelling or outhouse in Dec. 22, 1986.

He was ordered to return May 14 at 10 a.m.
