Two Middlebourne men were arrested and transported to the North Central Regional Jail Tuesday when state and local parole officers apprehended the defendants for alleged parole and probation violations.
John VanCamp, 40, of 313 Main St., Middlebourne, and Benjamin Davis, 34, were removed from the residence belonging to VanCamp.
According to Wetzel/Tyler Adult Probation Officer John Lantz, Charles Rose and Michael Rose of the state parole office, accompanied by Tyler County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Maston, arrived at the residence Tuesday morning in search of Davis. The defendant allegedly has parole violations filed against him.
Upon entering, Lantz was informed Davis was not present nor did he live there. Officers outside alerted those inside that Davis was at that time attempting to escape from an upstairs window.
The defendant was detained after a brief struggle and he and VanCamp were transported to the NCRJ without bond.
During the investigation, drug paraphernalia was found on site and VanCamp was charged with associating with a known felon who is believed to have been staying at the house.
VanCamp is currently facing a petition to revoke probation from Lantz filed earlier this year for failing a random drug screening. On Feb. 1, results of the test indicated a positive result for amphetamines. A confirmation test was ordered and reported on Feb. 12 that the result was confirmed for methamphetamines.
VanCamp was originally sentenced to the West Virginia Penitentiary for Men for a period of one to five years for the offense of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamines, a schedule II controlled substance. That sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on probation for a period of three years from Sept. 7, 2006, to Sept. 7, 2009. The defendant was also sentenced to 120 days in jail as a condition of probation.
Davis received a one- to five-year sentence for delivery of a controlled substance in March 2006 and was sentenced to the West Virginia State Penitentiary for Men. He was currently on parole for the charges. |
