Friendly family gives thanks

Letter to the Editor,

It’s now been a year since the horrible fire in Friendly. To some people April 18, 2007 will be a date that will never be forgotten. My family was one of the five families that was affected by that fire. You never think something that destructive could hit so close to home.

It’s been a long hard road, but we’ve managed to grow stronger and move on. Nothing would have been possible though, had it not been for our loving family, friends and community.

My family and I would like to personally thank the Wheeling branch of the American Red Cross, including Penny Howard and her supervisor. They organized our services and became cherished friends who continue to give us hope.

A great big thanks goes to Tyler County Schools’ employees, students and their families for giving so much and keeping us in their prayers. Wayside Furniture and King’s Corner for your generosity, thank you.

Thank you Sistersville IGA, New Martinsville Wal-Mart, Salvation Army, The Fort, Dairy Queen. To the owners and employees of Brent’s Carryout, thanks to your supporting care and friendship, we keep a smile.

We want to thank the Wells Inn, the mayor of Friendly, Union Bank, Sistersville Fire Department, and the Slicker Falls community and church. We appreciate all of the help from our family. Especially Granny and Grampy.

I know there are so many others who came together and helped us rebuild our life and move on. This community is truly amazing! A special thank you personally goes to Barry at the Tyler Star News and his crew for being supportive, giving us a voice and for lending a helping hand.

My family greatly appreciates everything that everyone has done. We will never forget that April night and we will never forget all of you. Thank you!

God bless you all.

Sincerely,

The Reed Family

Jamie, Debby, James Jr., Bre-Lynn and Kacie
