Saturday was a celebration of a life and our lives in Tyler County.
The memorial for Jesse Ault, a former local man who was killed while serving in Iraq, was cathartic as more tears were shed and the wounds re-opened. But, the truth as only a brother can tell showed the honesty of Sgt. Ault’s life.
Those who knew the young man left with a renewed sense of feeling. Those who didn’t know him left wishing they had — which is maybe how it should have been.
Next was a commemoration of 80 years on this earth for a staple of Sistersville who welcomed friends and family to remember a life still in progress.
If there is sense in one man living 80 years and another only 28 is a mystery man was never meant to solve, but a reminder to treasure all the moments allotted to them.
Finally, Rumors, the Neil Simon play produced by Lisa Fox and fleshed out with a cast of local volunteer actors brought laughter and applause to those who attended the second of three showings last week.
Taken as a whole, a lifetime was encapsulated in one day, complete with a gauntlet of emotions.
In the end, the only lesson learned was for anything to make sense, it must have an end. |
